CSI case 22

Estoy de regreso!!
I´m back!!
Several weeks have gone by since my last post, please forgive me… I was really complicated with family, work, the scrapbooking seminars I´m teaching at the institution I volunteer for “Rincón del Arte” which help raise money to buy the necessary materials for our children art classes.
Anyway,… let´s see… the CSI case this week was:
http://api.ning.com/files/woQk75LR0AyTKRjKDfok8kotyKlYTOBqNIuTjuvc22MigFkD5iJY8NFwbpBwMzCdbvHIZbolEpJeTHRfcQpyuzi2uPT-sq6Z/22flat.jpg
En la evidencia se encuentra:
  • Cintas
  • 3 deseos
  • Comenzar con “Había una vez”…
  • Palabras de inspiración: - Pretend (simular ser)
                                              - Wish (desear)
                                              - Some day (algún día)
Y mi resolución fue la siguiente:
And my investigation in this case led to the following:
image
PARACAIDISMO: MATERIA PENDIENTE (in my subject) means “Parachuting: A pending subject”.
“Some day” in the title of my main photo as a heading of part of the journaling, was my choice from the TESTIMONY list.
But let me walk you through the process…
I started by choosing the papers based on the case pallette:
DSC_0003
I decided to use one of my alphabets (paper ones, desiged as keys in a computer keyboard) to write the main word of my title: PARACAIDISMO (parachuting).
DSC_0002
I first trimmed the letters I needed and then I stamped a background on them in red and blue to integrate them to the pallette better and to make them more interesting.
ANTES Y DESPUÉS
del sello rojo:
BEFORE AND AFTER
the red stamp:

DESPUÉS DE AGREGAR EL SELLO AZUL (simil texto):
After the blue stamp (text):
DSC_0020
In order to stamp all letters together and offer continuity to the design of the stamps, I first pasted the letter (with repositionable tape) onto my craft sheet. I then stamp on them with both colors and, once the ink was dry, I removed them from my craft sheet and pasted them in their final position on my L.O.
DSC_0027
I replaced the initial P for one bigger that I created as follows:
DSC_0024
I tore a little square of the dotted paper and stamped a big “P” on it with clear embossing ink. I used a light-blue embossing powder on it and melt it with my heat gun. I love the “plastic” shiny effect that this creates.
I then inked the torn borders with red ink and pasted it onto my L.O. with foam tape for dimension.
DSC_0029
Using that letter P as if it were a crossword, I wrote “materia Pendiente” (pending subject) around it.
Parachuting is a dream I have for a long time, and I was very close to taking the certification course a few times but for one reason or other it is still a “pending subject” in my life.
But let´s see how I worked around the main photo.
I took a red piece of cardstock from an old file and trimmed a rectangle out of it, leaving the binding holes that it had, which I used to add some ribbon as part of the evidence.

DSC_0005
On that red cardstock I added the text SOME DAY (my element from the Evidence) as I still hope some day I can fulfill that dream.
For this I used a set of letter stamps with clear embossing ink and the same light-blue embossing powder I used on the “P” of my title.
DSC_0010
After I melted them with the heatgun it was like this:
DSC_0012
I did the same with a background stamp so that I could use it as a background frame for my photo.
But first I matted my main photo on the dotted piece of paper tearing one of the sides only and inking all borders with blue ink:
DSC_0013
As I wanted the photo to pop even more, i double matted it with a cardstock I previously prepared as follows. I used a very cream color cardstock and inked it with “stormy sky” blue ink (Ranger´s Distress Ink by Tim Holtz) which is water soluble.
DSC_0014
After inking the entire piece I sprinkled water on it which leaves an effect I particularly like a lot:
DSC_0015
I pasted the matted photo on top of it and then this onto the red cardstock:
DSC_0016
I wrote part of my journaling with white gel pen on this:
DSC_0017
El relato dice:
It reads:
“SOME DAY… I will be the one to jump off instead of just taking photos of them from above from the open doors of the plane (how tempting!)”
Truth is that if it weren´t because I was tied up, literally chained to the plain, I was so tempted to grab one of these guys and jump along! what a moment! so much adrenaline!!
But let´s go back to our page…
I took another piece of the pale cream cardstock and created a marble-ish effect with the red and blue inks.
For this I inked directly on my craft sheet with both colores and then sprayed a good amount of water on them.
DSC_0033
I used a soaked brush to first mix the colors individually and then to blend them a little bit.
DSC_0034
I placed my cream cardstock down onto the inked craftsheet and let it absorb all the ink.
DSC_0035
Once dry, I punched out the borders of the resulting paper to create some borders…
DSC_0036
I then pasted both borders beneath my red cardstock as follows:
DSC_0041
With these 2 “watery” techniques of the ranger inks I used the element from the evidence “wet mediums”.
I finished decorating this main piece pasting a vertical rectangle of the dotted paper, with torn borders, along the left margin of the page, then I added some tags (not without inking their borders first).
DSC_0044-001
Rectangular tag with inked borders, already pasted in between the red and the dotted cardstock.

Tag circular entintado:
Inked red circle tag:
DSC_0047
And now pasted below the dotted cardstock:
DSC_0048
I repeated the same at the bottom of the red cardstock and all of it looked like this:
DSC_0052
Before pasting all this onto my page I stamped my main background page with a red floral stamp on the top right corner:
DSC_0053
Then I pasted the red cardstock on top in a way the tags would partially cover the red background stamp.
DSC_0075
I used the tags to write some key text on them, like “vuelo de bautismo” (flying baptism) on the top tag, and the place and date on the bottom tags. I decorated it with some self-adhesive red stones, small ones to frame the main photo.
DSC_0076
The 4 additional photos, printed in smaller size and in a polaroid sort of way, were inked in red and blue as well:
DSC_0030
These photos, even when they are small to appreciate them in these pictures, are vivid enough when you see them in person and kind of tell the whole story, from when I jumped in the plane (which belongs to the parachuting school), the actual parachuters jumps!! (with that sign in red on the wing's support that says SALTÁ CAGÓN which means something like JUMP YOU COWARD!) and a strange view of the fields way below while Bétiga, the pilot, was doing some acrobacies in the air with me, half hanged, blocking myself from falling with my feet against each side of the open door while taking photos down to see if I could get any of them in the air (which I didn't!) but HOW MUCH FUN!!!!! such a great moment!
I arranged these photos in the lower right part of the page and over them I glued a ribbon with a metal sign that says ADVENTURE.
DSC_0071
I used a new glue to stick my ribbon  which ended up showing through (not nice, definitely one to avoid in the future for this particular use) so I trimmed a bit of the dotted paper and glued it on top of the ribbon. I liked the result. I decorated them with some red stones.
DSC_0073
The whole left side of the page and vertical title was empty and I used this space to tell this (for me) amazing story in more detail. It reads as follows:
DSC_0070
"16 december, 2004 - My birthday #30!
I had always said that before my 30s I was going to jump off a plane (on a parachute, of course) but that day had arrived and I hadn't acomplish such a challenge... Dani (my husband), in complicity with Caro and Gustavo Moreno (2 good friends), surprised me organizing a flying baptism in the local airclub in Esperanza where I could join a group of certified parachuters in their jump. What a moment! I was sitting on the plane floor, doors wide open, my feet hanging in the open air, taking pictures of the lucky parachuters while they were jumping off..."
I decorated the lower left corner with some red stone hearts to match the previous decorations...
DSC_0068
y con eso quedó terminada mi página / And that way my page was done...
